Francis Albert Wilke papers, 1906-1920.

The collection consists of materials associated with student life at Louisiana State University from 1916 to 1920. Included are a receipt, dated 1917, for board, laundry, fuel, and lighting; a schedule card for 1917; a schedule of courses and laboratories for the 1919-1920 university terms; a delinquency sheet for listing demerits; a 1908 edition of the blue book containing regulations for the discipline of the Corps of Cadets; photographs of Lee Himes, a quarterback on the 1917 LSU football team, Phil Cooper, a player on the 1918 football team, and Red Rice, the 1917 discus champion. Other items include a commencement program for 1920 and several newspaper clippings concerning Louisiana State University students, sports, and alumni.

Francis Albert "Al" Wilke enrolled as a freshman at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La., in 1916 and attended the university sporadically until 1920. He was responsible for introducing the first full feature page in the Reveille, the LSU student newspaper. Arthur Taylor Prescott (1863-1942) graduated from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, La., in 1884. He became commandant of the student cadet organization at the University of Virginia in 1887, the first president of the Louisiana Industrial Institute at Ruston in 1894, and professor of government at Louisiana State University in 1899.
